Wavy Flag

Here is a great way to display your patriotism.
Simply ad a wooden star, or two, and you have a nice item to hang on your front door.

The curved grooves look best if you first cut out a curve guide.
First, download the drawing by right-clicking on it and select "SAVE TARGET AS" or "SAVE LINK AS". Print the drawing to full scale (see my hints page if you need help with this).
Next, cut out a 7" by 11" rectangle from 1/2" thick plywood or pine plank. Tape the full-size template to it and cut out the curves with a bandsaw, jigsaw, saber saw, or coping saw.
Remove the template and place a sheet of carbon paper under it and tape it back over the flag. Trace the lnes for the grooves onto the wood.
Use a 1/2" V-Groove router bit to cut the grooves 1/4" deep along the lines. To get the best resluts, use the template to cut a guide that you can clamp to the wood for cutting the grooves.
Seal the wood with a good exterior sealer then get out your red, white and blue paint to finish the flag.
