Here is the orginal article from the
March - April 1958 Deltagram
ROCKWELL MANUFACTURING COMPANY - A DELTACRAFT PULICATION

The 13 holes are bored 2-5/8” deep
on the drill press using a
No. 808 machine spur bit.

After cutting outside section, sand
the curves on the band saw with
the belt sanding attachment
(No. 28-810) and a
No. 28-836 garnet belt.

A solid block of walnut or mahogany 3-1/8 inches square by 2-7/8 inches high is used to make this practical pen and pencil holder. Trace the drill hole positions and outer edge cutout design using the full size line drawing. The 1/2-inch holes are bored 2-5/8 inches deep and the cutout design is cut on the band saw using a 1/8-inch blade, then sanded as in Photo No. 3.
Finish sand with 6-0 garnet paper. Apply rubbing oil or boiled linseed oil for a natural finish. Follow with two coats of white shellac.
